So I know it looks like I have been a bum all week, but I actually used the elliptical on Monday and Tuesday. Yesterday was a busy, horrible day  so I didn't get the chance the run. But today I made up for it by running extra. Maybe it was only .25 extra but it still counts. I was running my two mile route and feeling pretty good. The genius who designed our subdivision decided it would be really neat to have a whole bunch of loops instead of through roads. So you pretty much have to drive ALL the way around the subdivision to get any where, but it does make running routes kind of fun. Those little loops are an easy way to add a little bit of distance to an otherwise simple route. So my route is basically a big circle around the older part of our subdivision. On the second to last road before the road I start on there are two of those little loops. So as I was running I decided to go ahead and do one of them. Then I was still feeling pretty good and so I decided to do the second. Then I was feeling not so good but only had about 200 yards left so it wasn't so bad.

I decided to do a short run today since we have a lot going on. Today is roadshow day! AHHHH!

Anyway, I was surprised that in some ways this run was very easy. I guess it has been quite a while since I have done such a short run. So it was easier because I could actually breathe. Aside from the aches and pains all up and down my legs, it was actually a very comfortable run, if that makes any sense.

My legs were pretty sore though (which reminds me that I want to ice my shins). My shins hurt, my knee hurt, my thighs hurt, my hips hurt. I did some extra good stretching after my run today and was actually surprised at how limber I am getting.  I haven't been able to stretch that far since before I was pregnant. Stretching really is a great thing. Have I told everyone that I think stretching is a really great thing. I hope none of you get tempted to skimp on your stretching after you run. If you don't have time to stretch then I would say cut your run shorter and make time to stretch. It is that important. But then I'm not Sasha so what do I know and who is going to listen to me anyway, right? Ha ha. Anyway, happy running (and stretching) to you all!

So I think I should be aloud to add another mile to yesterday's total since I was running all over the gym at last nights roadshow. It was a pretty stressful evening but our skit actually turned out really well. We won "Best Spiritual Message" and everyone we talked to said they liked it a lot. If they had had a "Best Special Effects" category then we should have won it because our Matrix scene turned out really cool. We were actually the only ward to use the stage lights rather than just the normal lighting. For our slow motion matrix scene we turned the lights all off except for one blue light shining on these two kids. Then a girl threw a dodgeball on a stick at them in slow motion. Someone dressed in black carried the ball across the stage and one boy bent backwards and the other boy was lifted in the air into a flip to dodge the ball. We played mortal combat music too. It looked really cool and everyone liked it. But still, I had to run back and forth and back and forth to set up for it. It was insane. We are so glad that it is over.

As for today's running: Ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch. That is the best way to describe it. I was feeling pretty sore since we got home last night. My legs were already feeling a little stiff after yesterday's run and then I ran all over the church in sandals, so that didn't help. When I started my run this morning my legs hurt from hip to ankle. My shins started hurting pretty badly and twice when I stepped up on the sidewalk from the road, my knee gave out on me. So then I was very careful to only step up with the other leg. When I got back to the house I couldn't even walk without shin pain, and even when I would sit down and not touch or put pressure on my legs, my shins just throbbed. I had a hard time stretching it hurt so much. So I took some ibuprofen and iced both shins to bring down the inflammation. It helped too. As soon as I was done icing them they felt immensely better. I haven't felt the pain since. I'm VERY glad that I don't have to run tomorrow. I think it will be good to give them a rest so I'm also glad that I can use the elliptical on Monday.
