Seth and I graduated from BYU April 2007. Our beautiful son Simeon was born that May. I started running again in June with the encouragement of Seth and Lybi. Seth, Lybi, Laura, and their mom are the ones who really keep me running :P

I'm not sure I should keep jogging with Simeon. He threw up while we were jogging today and it was before he had eaten. It was thicker than when he spits up and it smelled like stomach acid. I think the movement is too hard on his little stomach. I don't want to make him sick :( So when I might have to stick to walking for a while until he's a little older. Once again, it would help if I had something smoother to run on than sidewalk. It's a little bumpy.

I think that we started taking out boys out in the jogging stroller once they got to be 4-6 months old. Maybe you can go for a walk with Simeon during the day while Seth is at school, and when he comes back, you can go for a jog . . . I know that I enjoy running with Lybi, but most of the time, I don't get to do it.

Poor little guy! Yea, for that stroller (it was originally ours) I think that it is for ages 6 months and up. I like running at night after the boys go to bed, but you'll need a running buddy, for 2 reasons: first for safety, 2nd, to have a big reason to get out the door. Is there anyone from church that lives close who might want to run with you? Almost everybody wants to be in better shape. They'd be as glad for the company as you. Well, or you could get a dog.

PS When I run with the jogging stroller I always run on the road instead of the sidewalk. It's smoother and has more gradual of turns.

Thanks Lybi and James! I've thought about running on the road, especially since our neighborhood doesn't have a lot of traffic. I've also thought about going out running after Seth gets home, but after being alone with the snortums all day, I usually just want to lay on the couch :) It's amazing that someone so small could make me use so much energy :)

Same here - I almost never run on the side walk with a stroller.

Kristina, You would need an "infant sling" fitted to your stroller to run with a baby that young since he can't hold his head up and doesn't have much body control. If it were cooler, you could carefully pack bunches of receiving blankets around him to achieve the same control the sling provides. I started running when bubbles was 5 weeks old, and the sling fitted to her Chariot held her and she didn't move. You were right to go with your gut and go home when you didn't like the bouncing. You are a good Mom! Consider having Dad watch him. Dad will bond with him during that special time together. Even if you are tired, it will be good for your soul. You might even feel less tired when you return and shower. I think running makes me a better Mommy. When I run with my little one in the stroller, I run in the road facing traffic. If there is possibility of low light, the stroller and I are lit up with lights like a Christmas tree! Good luck with your little guy! Remember not to be too hard on yourself with the weight. It took you nine months to get that way -- allow yourself at least that much time to go back.
